Sophmore Madison Helterbran talks spring soccer season

The spring season is a time where our team comes together, and we put in the work to prepare for our fall season. Whether that is lifting, practicing, or off the field this spring has been very productive with our team coming together and us realizing the goals we want to accomplish and the dedication we must have to reach them. This spring started off with us traveling to Illinois University for a 7v7 tournament, where we ended up going 2-2. Even though we knew we should of done better than this, throughout the day you could see our team improving and having more confidence with the ball, and therefore we won the last two games. This was a fun day because it was different from playing 11v11 all the time, and you got to see the game from another perspective.

Our next game was against Slippery Rock and this was extremely fun and crazy because we had to shovel our field before the game because of all the snow, since we live in the great state of Ohio. This was our first 11v11 game and outdoor game since our tournament game in November. With that said, we started out a little slow in the first half where the half closed being 0-0. During half time coached talked to us about how we just had to calm down and just have fun. In the second half we came out a lot stronger, and we ended up winning 2-1.

The start of our spring season has been very exciting and demanding, but it is all paying off since we all got PR’s in the weight room this week. After we come back from spring break, we have a few more games that we are looking forward to then it’s in to summer to prepare for a successful fall season! Lets go Flashes!
